Bugs fixed:

  • When installed on a fresh machine, DataCocoon does a full backup each time it runs
  • Backing up very large files uses too much memory
  • Strange error returned when checking space used by very large files
  • Two minor typos in UI and help file
  • FTP error status codes not always reported correctly
  • Restoring large files sometimes fails
  • Error codes can be lost during restore

  • Backup limit can get out of sync with amount backed up

Bugs fixed:

  • Choosing files screen should say "check" rather than "select"
  • Should be clearer that the backup has finished
  • Unchecking "C:\" doesn't clear the "My documents" tree
  • Possible deadlock when exiting mid-backup
  • UpdateStatus can be called before the current item is set
  • Configure settings doesn't launch automatically when the installer completes
  • Choosing "backup now" before configuring settings hangs PeerBackup

  • There is no indication that the connection is being made to the FTP server on
    backups or restores
  • Choosing files to backup doesn't show "My Documents" at the top of the list
  • No way to get to the About box
  • No user interface to communicate the check for expired deleted files
  • Installer should launch PeerBackup with the settings wizard when upgrading
  • Pause doesn't pause immediately
  • Scrolling of the backups/restores should follow the active item rather than the end of the list
  • Unhandled exception on "Backup now"
  • Scan of the filesystem shouldn't finish when it encounters a problem file
  • Cancelling restore all causes access violation
  • Connecting to the FTP server can block indefinitely
  • Browse for FTP folder shouldn't allow "retrieving files" to be chosen as a folder

Bugs fixed:

  • It's hard to tell how much longer the backup will take
  • "Choose files" should include "My Documents" folder
  • Per-file errors in backup or restore should allow the user to click on the error for more info
  • Exiting during a backup or restore should check with the user first before
    exiting.
  • Restore should warn the user if there are errors during the restoring
  • Single-digit minutes in the settings wizard should have leading 0s
  • Cancelling mid-backup corrupts things or causes PeerBackup to crash
  • Going back and forward during a restore can cause PeerBackup to crash
  • PeerBackup can't be minimized
  • Errors from the FTP server aren't always correctly reported
  • Uninstall should also (optionally) remove configuration data
  • Upgrade shouldn't launch the settings wizard if PeerBackup is already configured
  • FTP settings check should advise user what to do if it fails
  • FTP settings check needs a better indication that it succeeded
  • Minor cosmetic clipping problem with UI
  • Temporary location field in restore can be incorrectly disabled

Beta 3

Bugs fixed:

  • Should warn the user if they don't enter a password
  • "Click here to open the folder containing the restored files" doesn't open the correct folder
  • Error "more info" link should include the location of the error as well as the error code
  • Installer should add (optional) shortcuts on the desktop and quick launch bar
  • PeerBackup should run automatically from the installer
  • FTP folder browser can't cope with not having permission to view a folder
  • It's possible to set-up a backup of no files
  • Can try to create an unnamed folder with the FTP folder browser
  • Dates displayed when restoring recently deleted files aren't very user-friendly
  • "Click here to show errors first" should scroll to the errors in addition to
    sorting them
  • Can't navigate to the "My ISP isn't listed" option with just the keyboard
  • Out-of-range values can be entered into the times to backup settings
  • Can attempt to restore no files
  • "Next" button should be disabled until a location is selected for restore
  • "Create FTP folder" dialog has no title

Beta 2

Bugs fixed:

  • Release build crashes during backup
  • Error message text runs off the edge of the error dialog
  • Files not backed up on Windows 98
  • Backup page missing title and subtitle
  • Application data shouldn't be stored in root of C drive
  • Truncated files not backed up
  • Data password should be retyped to confirm it has been typed correctly
